1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small files stored on the user’s computer by web servers to store and retrieve information about their visitors, as well as to ensure the proper functioning of the website.

2. Cookies affected by regulations and exempt cookies

3. Types of Cookies

3.1. By Purpose

• Technical and functional cookies: Allow the user to navigate through a website, platform, or application and use the different options or services offered by the website.
• Analytics cookies: Allow the responsible party to track and analyze the behavior of users on the websites they are linked to.
• Advertising cookies: Allow the management, as efficiently as possible, of the advertising spaces included by the editor on a website, application, or platform.
• Behavioral advertising cookies: Collect information about the user’s preferences and personal choices to allow the management, as efficiently as possible, of the advertising spaces.
• Social cookies: Set by social media platforms to allow content sharing with friends and networks.
• Affiliate cookies: Enable tracking of visits from other websites with which the site has an affiliation contract.
• Security cookies: Store encrypted information to prevent data stored in them from being vulnerable to malicious attacks by third parties.

3.2. By Ownership

• Own cookies: Sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a device or domain managed by the editor and from which the service requested by the user is provided.
• Third-party cookies: Sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a device or domain not managed by the editor, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through cookies.

3.3. By Storage Duration

• Session cookies: Collect and store data while the user accesses the website.
• Persistent cookies: Store data that can be accessed and processed for a defined period by the responsible party, which can range from minutes to several years.
• Media player cookies: Enable audio or video playback on a website.

4. Cookies Used on This Website

• PHPSESSID: Technical cookie strictly necessary that contains the session identifier. It is deleted when the browser is closed.
• _lang: Technical cookie strictly necessary that contains the session language. It is deleted when the browser is closed.
• ac_cookies: Technical cookie strictly necessary that contains the value of whether the installation of cookies has been accepted. Expires 1 year after the last update.
• _ga: Google Analytics cookie that enables the function of control of unique visits. The first time a user enters the website through a browser, this cookie will be installed. When this user re-enters the web with the same browser, the cookie will consider it to be the same user. Only if the user changes browsers will it be considered a different user. Expires 2 years after the last update.
• _gat: Associated with Google Analytics Universal. Used to limit the request rate – limiting the collection of data on high-traffic sites. Expires 10 minutes after the last update.
• _utma: Google Analytics cookie that records the date of the first and last time the user visited the website. Expires 2 years after the last update.
• _utmb: Google Analytics cookie that records the arrival time to the website. Expires 30 minutes after the last update.
• _utmc: Google Analytics cookie used for interoperability with the urchin.js tracking code. It is deleted when the browser is closed.
• _utmt: Google Analytics cookie used to process the type of request made by the user. Expires at the end of the session.
• _utmv: Google Analytics cookie used to segment demographic data. Expires at the end of the session.
• _utmz: Google Analytics cookie that stores the traffic source or campaign to explain how the user reached the website. Expires 6 months after the last update.

5. How to Delete Cookies from the Browser

Chrome

1. Select the Tools icon
2. Click on Settings
3. Click on Show Advanced Options
4. In the “Privacy” section, click on Content Settings
5. To delete cookies: Click on All cookies and site data…
6. Do not allow cookies to be stored.
7. Click on Clear browsing data (empty the Cache).
8. Close and restart the browser.

Internet Explorer, Version 11

1. Select Tools | Internet Options
2. Click on the General tab
3. In the “Browsing History” section, click on Delete browsing history on exit
4. Select Delete files
5. Select Delete cookies
6. Click on Delete
7. Click on OK
8. Close and restart the browser.

Firefox, Version 18

1. Select Firefox | History | Clear recent history
2. Next to “Details,” click the down arrow
3. Select the following checkboxes: Cookies, Cache, Active Logins
4. Using the “Time range to clear” drop-down menu, select All
5. Click Clear Now
6. Close and restart the browser.
7. You can accept or reject cookies individually in Firefox Preferences, in the History section available in Tools > Options > Privacy.

Safari Version 5.1

1. Select the Safari / Edit icon | Reset Safari
2. Select the following checkboxes: Clear history, Remove all website data
3. Click Reset
4. Close and restart the browser.
